Privacy Policy

Subtuli ("we", "us", "the app") respects your privacy. This Policy explains what data we process when you use the Subtuli mobile app and how we protect it.

Subtuli does not require an account. We do not collect your name, email, or phone number unless you contact support yourself.

Device identifier: on first launch the app generates an anonymous random identifier (UUID) and stores it in secure storage (Keychain). It is not linked to your identity and is used only to associate your subscription with the device.

Audio for transcription: when you create subtitles, the audio track of your video is sent to our server and on to a speech-recognition provider solely to produce subtitle text.

Text for translation: if you turn on subtitle translation, the text of your captions is sent to our server and on to a machine-translation provider. Video and audio are not sent for translation.

Usage data: we keep technical records of transcription requests (device identifier, time, audio size) to prevent abuse and enforce limits. The content of your video or subtitles is not stored.

In-app events: the app sends de-identified events to our server — for example, "project created", "export finished", "subscription screen shown" — together with the device identifier and app version. This shows us what works and what breaks. The app contains no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.

Support requests: if you send feedback from the app, we receive the message text, the app version, and the interface language.

We process data to make the app work: speech recognition, subtitle generation and translation, managing your subscription and free-minutes balance, and protecting the service from abuse. In-app events help us find bugs and improve the product.

We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising.

Speech recognition: audio is processed by a speech-to-text provider to convert speech into text. Audio is transmitted over a secure connection and used only for this operation.

Translation: caption text is processed by a machine-translation provider based on a language model. The text is transmitted over a secure connection and used only for this operation.

Apple: purchases are handled through the App Store. Payment details are processed by Apple — we have no access to card numbers or payment credentials.

Refunds: if you request a refund, Apple may ask us for information about how the purchase was used. We share with Apple only technical data tied to the anonymous device identifier: whether you used the paid features, the approximate amount and duration of use, and your total purchases and refunds. Apple takes this into account when reviewing the request. The content of your videos and subtitles is not shared.

Audio submitted for transcription and text submitted for translation are not retained after processing completes. Finished subtitles and projects remain locally on your device.

Technical usage records and in-app events are kept for the limited period needed for rate limiting, security, and bug analysis, then deleted.

Deleting the app removes local data from your device. To delete the record associated with your device identifier on the server, contact us.

Subtuli is not intended for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.

You may request access to, or deletion of, data associated with your device identifier by emailing our support address.

We may update this Policy. Material changes will be reflected by the updated date at the top of this page.
